GUERILLA SHORTS SHOWCASE: 2025 HALLOWEEN EDITION (20TH ANNIVERSARY)
It may be hard to believe, but The Guerilla Filmmaking Challenge (presented by the Film and Media Alliance of Southern Utah) started two decades ago! That’s right…The very first Challenge was the Halloween Edition in the fall of 2005. In the years since, the Summer Movie Edition, the New Year Edition, and the Holiday Edition of this beloved quick turnaround filmmaking platform have also entered the equation. Throughout our various editions of Guerilla, one thing that’s remained a constant in the last twenty years is the dedication, the passion, the creativity, and the ambition displayed by the hundreds of storytellers who have taken part in this creative platform.
We certainly expect that trend to continue during our 20th anniversary celebration!
Back in early September, we had 30 filmmaking teams sign up for the 2025 Halloween Edition of the Guerilla Filmmaking Challenge. All of these teams are currently in the process of completing their short films and on Saturday, October 18th, we invite you all to experience these creations on the big screen as FMASU presents the 2025 Halloween Edition of the Guerilla Shorts Showcase over at the Electric Theater in St. George, UT.
Attendees are also encouraged to get in on the action and vote for their favorite shorts as in addition to Jury prizes, there will also be an Audience Choice Award handed out to the best film of the bunch. In addition to the films, we’ll be throwing a Poster Design contest into the mix as well! That’s right…Filmmaking teams have an option to create posters for their latest short films. And yes, there will also be a prize for the best Guerilla poster of the bunch! *Please note: Posters created with AI may be penalized by our judges. We’ll share more details on the judging criteria in the coming days.
And if that weren’t grand enough, we’re inviting all Guerilla Showcase attendees to come out to our event in their Halloween best as there will be two prizes handed out for Best Halloween Costume! Of course, this costume contest isn’t mandatory, but we certainly encourage everyone to get into the Halloween spirit and take part.

Saturday, October 18th at 6 PM (Doors at 5:30 PM) at The Electric Theater located at 68 E. Tabernacle, St. George, UT, 84770.
Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $5 for children (3 to 11.) Children under 3 are free. Additionally, we’ll be offering a limited number of $30 group passes (good for up to 5 people.) Get your tickets and passes before they’re gone!
